Not steel, but definitely not bad for the price.
It's definitely not steel. My magnets didn't stick to any part of this bottle, so if you want a steel bottle like I do, pay the extra money! I mostly just use mine for water and haven't had any problems in the few months I've had it. It's not so bad if you want to be more eco-friendly. So far it insulates very well.
