Clarity in both idle and active modes is excellent. The idle mode is bright and crisp, the dark mode is dark enough that you never feel offended by light, you never have to look away from a bright arch, yet not so dark that you can't see the surroundings around the arch . Perfect vision whether darkened or not. The auto-dimming speed is super-fast, and since you maintain your peripheral vision in both modes, your visual attention shifts smoothly. The dimming lasts a bit, not too long, about half a second to a second. Great for arc starting or sustaining issues as there's no such thing as the lens going dark and not dark like crazy with the arc. The tint is amazing. I posted photos. I have Rayban and Oakley polarized glasses and traded them in for this shade. It's yellow with hints of green. Although the vivid red puddle under the lens looks amber-orange. The shade is excellent. Sufficient for 1/8 6010 and 7018. Absolutely no darkening, no under-darkening. I will definitely buy again or as a gift.
