These pads look really cool, but the material that connects the plastic pads to the elastic is just two layers of very thin mesh with very thin foam in between. Due to the rounded shape of the knee pads, you may be thrown back by the plastic part on one side of your knee if you touch them lightly. The first day I skated with them as a beginner skater, I fell onto my side and tore the mesh portion of one of my knee pads. probably better than for beginners who don't have as much control when falling. I personally wish I had flatter areas on my knees. As far as they fit, I measured myself and ordered a large one, but I might go down a size as the velcro straps stretch. They still work but the wrist guards are a bit big.
