I had some carpet trimming to do but also use it for box cutting and other trimming. Press the button to unfold the blade or return the blade.has a blade cover, also, but when blade is retracted, the cutting edge is covered. I stick it in my pocket when I'm working. Hand feel is great, while holding the knife in use. Safer than other blades I've used. Sharp.remember a dull blade or knife can create an accident.not a sharp one . Of course, always be aware that it is a sharp blade. It's my pocket handyman!
