Solid keyboard with a few minor flaws

Our opener is an Intellicode 2 model, so we just had to follow a few simple instructions right on the cover to plug it in. It was very simple and only took a minute to complete the pairing. We encountered the problem of a mortar wall when mounting the device to the wall, and the keyboard came with screws without anchors. We had to buy a whole set of the same flat head screws with anchors to install this. Unless you're screwing it directly to metal or wood, you'll likely need dowels. I wish they had included them in the kit as plastic anchors shouldn't cost much more. The device itself is solidly constructed from relatively thick ABS plastic. The rubberized keys glow faintly at night, but you don't see them glowing in daylight. This is important as the LEDs will indicate if an input from your key has been registered or if there has been an error (flashing) with your code or when you can re-enter the code after an error. The keys are a little wobbly and have a rubbery feel. So if your PIN is a bit long, it's pretty easy to get it wrong. You then have to wait a few seconds (or until the lights go out, which you can't tell if it's daytime) to re-enter. This discourages entering longer PINs quickly, as you have to press each key a little carefully to avoid messing up the entry and risking a wait before re-entering it. I wish they had made the keys more direct and tactile so typing could be faster and more confident. The exposed circuit board next to the battery worried me a little as alkaline batteries can leak and ruin the circuit. when left unused for a long period of time, especially when exposed to elements such as heat. Those who like to snow or relax and won't be using the device for a long time should probably switch the battery to zinc-carbon, which may not last as long, but these are reliable batteries that never leak. Other than that, it's a solid keyboard with a pretty nice look and compact size. It was easy to set up and has worked reliably so far. Basically we are quite happy with it.
