This is a single channel unit

The keypad can operate three different garage doors but when pressed it will open/close all three doors. A single channel device means that there is only one PIN code and this PIN code simultaneously opens/closes all doors (1, 2 or 3) that the keypad is programmed for. If you want two doors to be programmed to open/close independently with their own PIN code, you will need to purchase a dual channel keypad. This product limitation has not been clearly reflected in this Genie product overview…

Easy installation. Mistakes that later become problems.

On the plus side, this was definitely the easiest keypad remote I've ever programmed, and it's nice that it works with three doors. Here are the cons compared to others I've used. 1) It only stores one code. You can technically add a second temporary code, but it will be deleted once the main code is used again. 2) The up/down button is not very intuitive when sharing code with friends or courier via txt. It's much easier to write "1 2 3 4 ENTER". 3) The giant "PROGRAM" button has no meaning…

got a job! for keyboards and remotes

I bought this remote to work with my old ol' Genie garage door opener which doesn't have a learn button but has a plunge system. 12 small switches located in the up/down positions. I made 2 mistakes. I first used the remote left by the previous owners as my DIP mapping. A time consuming mistake. I have no idea why this remote has a set of DIP switches, but it does and does not match the garage door opener. Key learning, only trust the garage door opener! Second, I used YouTube videos but they…

  • Minor issues

Less than two weeks after installing the keyless garage door opener, my front door latch became stuck, preventing me from even leaving the house with my keys. I couldn't open the door because the latch broke and froze in place. After a few moments of dread, I remembered that I had recently installed a keyless garage door opener and was able to enter the house through the garage. An attempt to open the front door from the inside also failed. I ended up having to saw off the latch to open the…

Up to 8 digit PIN but very poor backlight

My Genie garage door opener is 13 years old and by default this new keypad is quickly programmed to both openers. I really like that the user can program a 3 to 8 digit PIN instead of the usual 4. So why only 4 stars? The backlit keyboard only illuminates the numbers 2, 5, and 8. It would be nice if there was a way to easily illuminate the keys for nighttime use, but you can't help but press a number. which is considered part of your PIN. So if you start with the wrong number, you will end up…

Item must be present. but there are problems with mounting hole

I have two of these at home and they are very useful. Apart from that this is my third pair as others usually stopped working after about 8 years in a sheltered but open space. They have a lid about the same size as the previous version, but the body is an inch shorter so the mounting holes don't match the old ones. To make matters worse, my house was originally built for wired keyboards and the mounting holes are now closer together than the height of an electrical box recessed into the wall…

Works but won't last long

I've had a Genie keyboard, black model, for over 11 years and have had no problems with it. Then I moved and needed a keyboard for my new opener that is not compatible with the old model's keyboard. This will be the third keyboard of this version that I have had to buy in 7 years. These models appear to be smarter with Intellicode, but much less reliable. Both of the previous keyboards just stopped working, presumably due to weather as they don't seem to be properly sealed, particularly around…

Solid keyboard with a few minor flaws

Our opener is an Intellicode 2 model, so we just had to follow a few simple instructions right on the cover to plug it in. It was very simple and only took a minute to complete the pairing. We encountered the problem of a mortar wall when mounting the device to the wall, and the keyboard came with screws without anchors. We had to buy a whole set of the same flat head screws with anchors to install this. Unless you're screwing it directly to metal or wood, you'll likely need dowels. I wish they
