My Genie garage door opener is 13 years old and by default this new keypad is quickly programmed to both openers. I really like that the user can program a 3 to 8 digit PIN instead of the usual 4. So why only 4 stars? The backlit keyboard only illuminates the numbers 2, 5, and 8. It would be nice if there was a way to easily illuminate the keys for nighttime use, but you can't help but press a number. which is considered part of your PIN. So if you start with the wrong number, you will end up with an error message and the light will go off immediately after it stops flashing. You can press the up/down button, but an error will flash immediately and then go off immediately. Lighting is not visible even during the day. So if you enter your PIN incorrectly during the day, the error indicator will not flash. A NOTICE. Based on previous experience, try to position the keyboard so that it is not constantly exposed to direct sunlight. Otherwise, the constant midday sun will take its toll on the keyboard's plastic and you'll need to replace it sooner rather than later. First, the lid breaks off. If you have the opportunity, consider installing it in a way that will at least avoid high winds and other bad weather conditions. The better you protect it, the longer it will last.
