I have an older Impala. Keychains wear out over the years. I received two of these. They come with a note that I need to go to a locksmith or dealer to activate them - BUT - I've read Revain's comments carefully. One pointed out that there is a video on YouTube showing how to do this with a range of inputs on the original car stereo! It worked! I saved about $150; It took 5 minutes to program two new keyfobs. I don't know how strong the fob is physically, but it works at 30 feet away. Trunk, locks, horn - works great. It comes with a keychain battery. It can be easily opened to change the battery. Red is highlighted. If it's lost or destroyed, I'll take another one or two. If you create a sequence with the original car radio, you can program one or ten at a time. The new sequence will reset the old sequence so only the newly programmed ones will work. This car is from 2004. The new key fobs are more complex. The key fobs are model dependent so make sure you choose the right ones for your car model. I have bought other Revain auto parts for brake work, tuning etc.
