Good product for hot spots

I have an older dog with very sensitive skin who is prone to hot spots. I switched to this food on the recommendation of a holistic vet and it has greatly improved the condition of his skin. For the first time in five years, we got through the summer and fall without giving him a series of expensive procedures, including steroid shots, antibiotics, and topical prescription drugs. During the peak months of July and August, he had slight skin irritations, which, however, did not turn into large bleeding ulcers as in the past. We've managed to overcome this by bathing more often, using an inexpensive rash cream, and trimming the hair on parts of the body that are more prone to breakouts. In the past, we've tried fish oil, avocado oil, and grain-free canned foods high in healthy fats. They held back the hot spots but caused him digestive problems. This product seems to be a miracle cure for both problems. On the other hand, this food has a higher fat content than most older formulas and is therefore not suitable for older dogs with liver or kidney problems. I've also noticed that the granules in the dog bowl leave a greasy residue, sometimes requiring more frequent cleaning. I bought a second bowl to change one while the other was being washed and dried. Once a week I washed his bowl in the dishwasher. I can last three days with this meal.
