I've spent some time researching emergency radios and for a variety of reasons I decided to go with this. First because the batteries could be easily removed. Why was that important to me? Because most emergency radios have a simple light switch (like this one), but the problem is that if you throw it in your emergency bag, that light switch can be hit very easily while you're moving around in the bag. and will drain your battery very quickly without you even knowing it. So what I'm going to do is take out the batteries when I put it in the emergency bag. The BIG disappointment was that the battery that came with it is at least 5 years old (stamped with a production date of 2015). For this type of battery, this is about half the expected battery life. [Imagine buying a new car with a 5 year old battery. If you had known about this you would have asked the dealer for a new battery.] I contacted Midland today and informed them of this issue (purchased by Midland). Store at Revain) and asked them to send me a new battery while they await their reply. 25/2020, Midland still hasn't responded, sent another ticket to Midland support to solve my problems. ****Update** On 9/28/2020 I was contacted by customer service and said they would send a replacement battery. **
