Large aluminum tube with fine threads at both ends. They're rough, straight from the factory. Attaching the plugs requires care, otherwise it is easy to twist them and ruin the thread. Apply a little grease or grease, line them up carefully and screw the end cap back on. Do this back and forth a little to break up the strands. They get smoother with every use. The tube doesn't hold 2 pounds, but 1 pound, 11 ounces. Be careful not to lose small parts when washing dishes. It's well made for its price. If you're having trouble stuffing sausage with something like a meat grinder, you'll really appreciate this thing.
