We bought this for our indoor cat who spends the afternoons outside. After spotting a few coyotes in the neighborhood, we decided it would be indoors only. He missed nature so much that we figured a harness and running leash might quell his craving for fresh air (when I say craving, I really mean full blown insane madness to the point where he rushes to the door and right against it the steel cracks security door). This trailer did it. I say "first measure" because if you make it too big, the cat or dog can slip in and out of the harness. Second, allow your pet to move around the house wearing only a harness. Once they feel they can walk around the house in it, attach the leash and let them ride around the house more. As soon as they feel comfortable outdoors, it starts. We now have 2 harnesses, one for each cat and yes it took us a while to get used to it. Our cats like to go out for a long time and we feel safer with this walkie option.
