Surprisingly small, works great, looks great

This review is for a 7-port aluminum USB 3.0 hub (some of the other reviews appear to be for other products but aren't clearly labeled as such). This hub is a lot smaller than I expected; It's about the same width as an iPhone 5. It comes with a 4.0A power adapter, which is larger than most, but neither port can deliver the 2.1A needed to charge an iPad are. So when you plug it in, it will display "Not charging" message. There was no problem charging my iPhone 5. Hub configuration is simple: seven ports side-by-side, one power jack and one micro-USB jack on the back, that's it - no separate or generic power button, no individual port LEDs; As the only concession, the green LED on the left is lit when the hub is powered by the USB host or AC adapter. The choice of the very common and tiny microUSB 3.0 connector is very smart: it's the same connector used on most USB 3.0 drives. The processing of the hub is impeccable. Made from white plastic and brushed aluminum, it looks great next to a MacBook or iMac, but even better, it can be attached to the back of an iMac or to the side of your desk with the included Velcro. With cables poking out of the back, it's actually pretty easy to keep what's usually the heart of a rat's nest looking nice and tidy. In terms of performance, the hub behaves exactly as expected: it supports a combination of USB 3.0 and USB 2.0. Devices without problems and USB 3.0 devices work great.PROS---------- Great looks, fits modern computers - Surprisingly small footprint - Powerful power supply, powering USB hard drives is no problem (but it iPad cannot be charged) - Self-adhesive Velcro included - Smart, convenient layout - MicroUSB 3.0 connector CONS --------- Cannot charge iPad to full capacity (but I don't know of any hub that can. some offer additional ports for iPad, but they are paid for) CONCLUSION ------- There are other cheaper USB 3.0 hubs; they offer even more functions (highly questionable uses, like general and individual power and light switches). However, they usually come with weaker power supplies and are also significantly larger and uglier. If you're looking for a high-quality USB 3.0 hub with a small footprint that you don't need to hide, look no further, this affordable Anker is for you. highlighted.

Pros
  • Gigabit Ethernet - Accelerate and stabilize Internet access over a wired network connection through this Type-C to Ethernet port.
Cons
  • I'll write later
