Review on πŸ”¦ Light & Motion Rando 500 High-Capacity Battery Adventure Light - Extendable with USB Battery Pack, Black & Tan, One Size by Chris Wheeler

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Not a very good light and not worth the price

I bought the Rando 500 because I have a Light & Motion Urban 350 and it was GREAT, but the Urban has a battery life of around 90 minutes at high power. Rando can be used while charging, so it can reportedly run all night on external power. I expected this headlight to match the quality of my previous headlight of the same brand, but it doesn't. The LED looks cheap. , with bluish light in the center and a halo of orange-yellow light, then more blue light at the edges of the beam. My old Urban has a consistent natural white over the entire polar pattern. It's not very bright either. My Urban 350 is rated at 350 lumens at max. Rando is rated at 500 lumens at high. But Urban blows that light out of the water. I have to put Urban on Low to be comparable to Rando on High. The Rando 500 should be 150 lumens brighter (enough to make a difference), but the Urban 350 is a lot brighter. My old Urban 350 shifts very smoothly. This light stutters and crackles, which is very annoying. When connected to the store, the light normally turns on and cannot be turned off. It seems to be affected by whether the battery is low when plugged in or what cable is used. It's a secret. But that must not happen under any circumstances; I need to be able to charge the battery with the lights off. Considering the quality of my old flashlight from the same brand, I am overwhelmed by the poor quality of this flashlight. Very disappointed.
