I don't think mosquitoes are attracted to its light. Although we charge it for a few hours (via the computer), even then it only lasts a couple of hours with the fan on. Therefore, we need to turn off the fan to get about 7-8 hours of operation from a fully charged battery. And I don't think the light attracts flying insects at night as I have yet to see a dead insect at the base of the lightning rod (although we do get bitten by insects when we get up in the morning).
