They are very easy to use, very durable, easy to clean and compact to store. But in order for them to look beautiful, allow enough time for proper preparation. With good preparation, your sign will look great. If you do this, your sign will look sloppy, with smudged paint and fuzzy lines.1. Preparation - Make sure you have a clean/dry surface. Remove all dust particles and cobwebs. Wipe it off and make sure it is dry.2. Arrange these tiles in order and glue them together. I used painter's tape, but painter's tape works too. This ensures that all icons are aligned and there is no overflow between tiles. Also, don't forget to glue the little numbers (which are subscript on some tiles, but not all). Leave enough space for repeating letters/numbers. You can use any extra tile as a fill, just remember to tape them over. This ensures even spacing when you go back and add the missing duplicate numbers. (For example, we drew "344" but there was only one number 4 in the pack. So I glued "340" together but glued "0" all the way to get "34". - with a large empty space where the second "4" should disappear. Then paint. Then wait until it is completely dry. Rearrange the tiles to align "4" over the empty space , then paint again.)3. Place on the surface to be painted, fix with tape once you find the right spot. Add additional cardboard (if necessary) to protect adjacent surfaces from overspray. I came out about 8 inches with cardboard because I was planning on spray paint. Secure the box with tape. Make sure you cover any areas you don't want to paint over.4. Dye. I used white spray paint on a black sign and it looks great! Do not remove the tile until the paint is completely dry. Resist the urge to look to avoid accidentally smearing the paint.6. Repeat the same process for repeated letters/numbers. Be very careful with your preparation here. I'm a little lazy here, and you can tell. When moving repeating tiles from the original spot to where that letter/number repeats, be careful to prepare. Glue all the way, covering a small amount. Make sure it's securely taped with overspray cardboard. Mine has lifted a bit resulting in overspray/dirty lines on every single repeat tile I have. Not a big deal, but that could have been avoided if I had been careful with double letters since I was in initial training.
