1st measure; very happy!

I've never owned a whetstone before and I'm so glad I finally replaced my old knife sharpener. (It was a groove between two pieces of metal attached to a plastic handle. It worked perfectly.) I love that it also sharpens scissors and chisels, unlike my old sharpener. Once you learn how to use a whetstone, it'll be great! However, it definitely takes a little practice. I didn't see any instructions in the kit. YouTube is your friend. The clip-on guide that comes with the whetstone and attaches to the back of the knife is a good place to start (although some knives are too small for it). However, when I started using the "sharpie trick" (coloring the edge of the blade so you can see which parts are being sharpened and which parts are missing), I found that the angle was actually too small for my knives. . ). I taught myself to sharpen without guidance. I was bothered by another reviewer who said they had to support the whetstone with their free hand while sharpening. In my experience this is not necessary; I can use the knife with both hands and thanks to the rubber feet the sharpening stone doesn't slip. However, I always soak my stone in water for about 5 minutes before use and between knives if it dries out. I think just sprinkling water on it instead of soaking it might do the trick, but I'm not sure. If used dry, the friction is likely to be too high, which can cause the sharpening stone to come loose despite the rubber foot. Maybe it was another reviewer's problem.
