Maybe the kit I bought was defective

I bought 4 sets of 2003 RAD lifts. I installed 1 elevator but it never worked properly. Of course, I checked and rechecked the measurements, but the bike never leveled. I made sure the pulleys were aligned on both mounts, checked the rope etc. I followed the (poorly written) instructions and still didn't roll the dice. I also tried 3 different bikes to troubleshoot the system. I thought maybe the bike weight distribution was wrong, but I was trying to lift an 18-pound bike that was fairly evenly weighted. In addition, the lift must be able to handle less balanced loads. I even tried rearranging the mounts to lift the bike from different positions. Nothing worked. The bikes were never leveled. This might seem like a trivial issue, but think about it - to get this to work I had to push up one side of the bike while the other hand kept pulling the rope down, hoping the hooks didn't would work. slip off the seat (the hooks have slipped off the seat). For me, this two-handed balancing act defeated the purpose of what should have been a simple solution. I know a lot of people have had success with these elevators, so it's possible mine was defective. I have no idea. If you buy them, buy quality screws. What you get is pretty cheap and easy to take off.
