I had to remove some confidential folders from my laptop to send it in for repair. Since it wouldn't turn on, I couldn't use the laptop for it. I've found that there are other things that can match, not just card slots. My SSD is a single slot M.2 Key NVMe (PCI-e) SSD. My SSD is too short to use the included retaining screw so I used a rubber band. My W10 computer found it when I plugged it into a USB 3.1 port and I saw all the files and folders. There is no need to initialize other USB storage devices with data or anything like that.
