Needed an HBA controller capable of providing 8 or more SATA ports that was reliable and worked with Proxmox/ZFS. I received many recommendations for choosing such a card from another site that would cost less money but gave me a used part from the server. I'm glad I wasn't listening. It was brand new in the box, sealed in a stationary bag and never appeared to have been used. This, along with supporting the Revains return policy, cost me an additional $20, which is well worth it. Pros: - Brand new LSI 9207-8i - Easily recognized by Proxmox. - Stable, no problems connecting to hard drives. , probably no. Came with firmware P15 which is quite outdated. I installed the P20 firmware which appears to be the latest. Just download the firmware directly from the LSI website. The installation went smoothly after reading the documentation/readme for a few minutes. The P20 has been reliable, I have a 4x WD Red 4TB ZFS RAIDZ pool and a 2x Crucial MX500 SATA SSD ZFS mirror pool running it and it just works. are skeptical of the relatively few product reviews and advice from others. However, it turned out to be exactly what I needed. Highly recommended for Proxmox or other ZFS applications.
