Review on πŸ’ͺ Zoeller M53 Mighty-Mate Submersible Sump Pump - 1/3 HP - Enhanced SEO by Jacob Kuntz

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Broke after 5 months of short use!

The pump works perfectly and is well built. Unfortunately, the float that turns it on and off when it reaches a certain water level is very poorly designed and its weakest part. After only 5 months of use in California drought conditions (i.e. very little use) the rod guide, a 1/2" x 3" rubber band with a hole, broke in that hole. This strap is used to hold the float upright so the water can lift it straight up, activating the switch. It's easy to change, but you have to take the entire pump out of the hole to get to the correct screw. That means today my plumber has to go out and cut the pipes, remove the pump, fix the belt and reinstall the pump. Several hundred dollars, I'm sure. Next time I'll buy a pump with an electronic switch instead of a float.
