Ziploc brand vacuum bags have been sealed for just over a month with absolutely no visible sign of air escaping. The original space bags I used the same day have been vacuumed twice and are still kind of leaking air. I plan on throwing them away and buying more Ziploc. The ziplock bags are very flimsy and I felt like they might rip if I shoved them across the attic. That's why I bought the sturdier original spacebags, thinking they were less prone to breakage. Weight doesn't matter if they're not airtight. I'll update my answer later in the fall when I'm draining the ziplock bags if I see any tears or evidence that they've been compromised. I firmly believe that if I treat them carefully, they can be used for storage again next year.
