Review on πŸ“± KAKUSIGA iPad 4th Gen Touch Screen Glass Digitizer Replacement Kit – White by Todd Vesci

Its worth it! Electronics

I put off replacing the digitizer for a long time and finally did it. It was a fairly easy process, instructions were included. My screen broke, it wasn't a big deal to remove the old one. The tools that come with the product are quite light. I've had better luck using the flathead screwdriver that came with the kit to get under the screen to get started. I may have had to do this because my screen was so smashed. If the screen wasn't broken and just wasn't working, the exchange would have been a different experience. When replacing, make sure you test the screen sensitivity across the entire screen. I checked if I could unlock it and turn off the power, but when I was done the bottom two rows didn't work. Luckily I didn't put any pressure on the screen and was able to pull it out again to try to reattach the ribbon cables holding it in place. I've found on the internet that if you wiggle your icons, grab one and try dragging it across the entire screen, to all four corners, that's the best way to check if the entire screen is working. The instructions don't say it's plastic. Foil on the bottom of the screen. I almost didn't take it off because he didn't say I figured it might just be how the back is held together but both the back and front have protective covers. I was concerned about cheap/poor adhesion. I found a suggestion online to heat the new screen to soften the tape the same way you do to remove it. I reheated it, turned it upside down, and folded a stack of books for the night. That makes sense and seems like a good idea. When the screen is off you may see a series of horizontal lines, maybe every 1/4 inch. I was disappointed at first but when the screen is on you can't see them unless the light shines directly on them, but that's not really a problem. So far everyone is very satisfied. It was a reasonable price to bring an old iPad back to life.
