I received a "close hopper door" error and after going through all the cleaning and troubleshooting steps I finally called customer service, where I've been told there is a small magnet on the underside of the bean hopper lid that tells the machine the lid is closed and is safe to grind beans that should have moved on their own and recommends closing it repair and replace the lid which I refused to do it was out of warranty. I'll look for a spare magnet that will hopefully fit in the indentation on the lid, but in the meantime you can place another magnet next to the lid's indentation and start sanding again.
