I was able to upload files to it fairly quickly and play them for review, but the ONLY complaint so far is that the device is too hard to power off and reconnect. every 20-25 minutes when connected. For me this is a deal breaker (how was I to know it couldn't get any worse) and unfortunately I will most likely be returning it. I believe my laptop's USB port is 3.0 (aka 3.2 gen1?). It's a bit older than this device which I think is 3.1 (aka 3.2 Gen 2?) but I don't see why the device shouldn't be compatible with it. I haven't had any USB issues with anything I've used (printers, flash drives, cellphone, mice, etc.). Update: The product works fine when I don't use the cable that came with it. Probably gave a cheap cable. I've used GoPro and Apple cables and they both held the connection for as long as needed with no issues.
