I have a 3 year old Samsung 75 inch TV. I had trouble cutting audio. Sound intermittently, in my case about every few minutes, without interrupting the video. After extensive troubleshooting and replacing the cable box and HDMI cables, I found that this actually goes from the TV to my soundbar. Straight from the cable box to the die Soundbar and bypassing the TV worked flawlessly. This device managed to pass the HDMI signal (I don't see any degradation in video quality) and the ability to split the audio using an optical cable. Now everything is fine and there is no need for a new television or expensive repairs.
