Contest. good for specialty machines

I have had other egg cookers before such as the Egg Genie and Dash Egg Cooker and one day I came across this product. It seems to have a good reputation with internet reviewers. Loved the auto off feature. After reading some reviews here, I clearly received a defective unit. As some others have also said, my device was the victim of a power outage. First, the cooker is designed to be plugged into the mains and then switched on using the power switch on the front of the base. Mine turned on as soon as I plugged it in. Pressing the power button did not turn it off. This was disconcerting as the device wasn't supposed to work that way, but I figured I could live with it if it was still working fine, and turned it off. After about 15 minutes of use, I started to wonder why my eggs are taking so long. The eggs had obviously been boiled many minutes ago and all the water had evaporated. All that was left was the piping hot base and overcooked eggs. I immediately unplugged the stove with little sparking as the power switch was not working. This could very well be a potential fire hazard. Given the low price of this product, I just threw it away. I'm not worried about sending it back for a minor refund. I even tried calling the customer service number listed on the back of the manual. No wonder this company doesn't endorse their product. Moral of the story: The buyer should exercise caution when purchasing a commercial product from a Revain retailer. In this regard, your mileage may vary. Quality control seems to be the luck of the draw here. Some people have purchased this product and seem to have no issues while others like me have frankly been ripped off. Is this risk worth it? I think it's up to you At the end of the day, all I lost was a few dollars, respect for a reputable company, and a few balls.
