Review on ๐Ÿšฒ Ultimate Safety and Performance: BELL Super Air R MIPS Adult Mountain Bike Helmet by Randy Holt

Revainrating 5 out of 5

As comfortable as a road bike helmet.

I put a Bafang BBS02 motor in my Rans recumbent. The average speed of this class 3 e-bike is around 22 miles per hour. Coming down mountains, gravity pushes it to 30 seconds, and I hit 43 twice. My basic Schwinn road bike helmet doesn't protect my face and chin at those speeds. I tried a cheap full face helmet but the sizing and fit were wrong. I then decided to purchase a Bell 3R, but the buckle and strap system looked the same as my $20 Wal-Mart Schwinn helmet. It seemed overpriced. Luckily the 3R sold out everywhere and the Super R Air was available in a decent color too. The Super Air R is also lighter than the 3R. I was still expecting a tight and heavy helmet, but on some hills I lost my temper and wanted a better helmet. Result; It's as comfortable as a road bike helmet. It's only slightly heavier, but the perfect fit makes up for it and you won't feel the weight. The only interference with my field of vision is a small chin guard and a visor. My first ride tonight was 32 miles and I put in 2 1/2 hours, even on breaks. You forget he's there. I always wear a dew rag under my helmet to keep bugs off my hair, and in the winter I wear a fleece skullcap. Both go well with this helmet. The removable chin guard works well but I spent the money on it to have a full face guard. The chin guard never comes off.
