Review on 🚴 Schwinn Black Bike Brake and Derailleur Cable Repair Kit by Travis Caminiti

I thought it would be an upgrade but I prefer the Bell kit

I am very happy with Bell's affordable cable kit for my vintage bikes. This time I went with this Schwinn set instead. This set has a nylon liner in the cables which I thought would be an improvement over the Bell set which is not lined. This extra layer made it difficult to cut, and I felt the nylon was somewhat damaged and frayed in the jammed cutters. I've used very marginal Bell wire cutters (they worked well but were tiring) which I couldn't use with these Schwinns. So I had to buy new $16 vinyl cutters locally, which I think I needed anyway (although probably not if I'm stuck at Bells). Thing is, the brand new compound action cutters didn't produce the best cut cable housing here. The outer shell also peels off at interfaces. The outer jacket of Bell cables is bonded much more tightly to the smooth spiral steel inner jacket, and I've never had trouble separating the layers. This Schwinn set isn't a bad option (of very few, maybe only two), but next time I'll go back to the Bell set; For me these are the best cables.
