Review on 🎨 Charvin Artist Pastels Set: 48 Assorted Colors of Chalk Pastel for Professional Artists by Linda Diaz

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I'm just new to pastel.

I'm taking an art class and we need a set of semi-hard pastels. After reading reviews of various pastel brands I decided on this pastel set because people familiar with pastels seemed to think it was ok and it seemed like a reasonable price. I have found that working with dry pastels is messy because they are like chalk. Charvin pastels are "semi-hard" compared to soft pastels, which are even chalkier. (Oil pastels are very different from dry pastels and have a smooth, waxy texture.) When painting with pastels, I always kept a small hand-held vacuum nearby to quickly remove dust from the pastels. make. In my limited experience, these semi-hard pastels feel a bit grainy compared to soft pastels, but do you prefer sand or heavy chalk dust? Please note that the package contains 48 pastels, in two layers of 24 each. . When I first opened the box I thought all the blues was missing, but at the end: 'Oh look! You're in the bottom layer!' So that. Have fun and good luck!
