I needed lighting in my detached garage, but I didn't have $1,000 to spare for electricity. I have decided to switch to an environmentally friendly energy source. For under $300 I have more than enough power to run lights and some power tool chargers. My system is a solar panel connected to a powered charge controller. From the charge controller to my 100Ah deep cycle marine battery. I have a 400w inverter connected to the battery which I connect lights and chargers to. I turn on lights or chargers until I can upgrade my inverter. Installation was very easy. The instructions are clear and tell you almost everything you need to know. I recommend saving some solar panel extension cords depending on how far away you will be installing the charge controller.
