I was looking for a cost effective solution to improve my video conferencing experience. My solution was to route the USB extension cable to the bottom of the monitor where I secured it with double-sided tape. Now I can connect a camera that goes to the middle of the screen so the other person can see me looking at them during a video call and not look sideways, up or down. The experience is much better and the camera is small enough to be unobtrusive when showing something on screen. The camera also almost reaches the middle of a 13-inch laptop to do the same. With all of this I just want to have better control over the camera to be able to zoom in and avoid the vertical view of the phone when using the camera in the vertical direction. Maybe there is some software that will allow that. but I currently know no.
