I recently bought the blue Race Face Aeffect pedals. I used to use SPD pedals. I had enough control in corners (counterbalance with an outstretched leg. After years of riding the trails with SPD pedals, the transition has been as smooth as I could wish for for me. The grip with these pedals is excellent, even on rocky trail surfaces My inner foot can easily balance descents and jumps.I've settled on shin guards which I've had for a while (as I'm prone to shin sprains) but didn't need them as these pedals are easy to maintain to use with the DC -Flat-bottomed skate support shoes I combine with One-piece construction, the bearings are smooth and as far as I know you can use them if necessary converted from a rock with a hang glider in a $20 kit and they seem to be holding up well. Additionally, they were about $30 cheaper at Revain than several local stores and the REI store that sells them.
