Received this Friday and wanted it for use in my car and test boat. On the boat I need suction cups to hold not only my phone but also the portable GPS as I travel a lot and never know what kind of electronics the boat they give me will have. I will bring my own electronics but I need detachable mounts so they don't break. I had a long sailboat race this weekend to help steer. It was a great opportunity to see how well the mount holds both (individually, of course). I'm not talking the equivalent of driving down a road that needs repairs, I did a real test. 65 miles each way in strong winds (up to 6 feet) with a boat speed of 20-25 knots (23-28+ mph). It literally shakes the bones. However, this must be done to ensure immediate safety in the event of an accident. In short, neither the phone nor the GPS fell out of the mount, and the mount itself did not detach. In your car you will never experience the intense beating I received from this boat mount this weekend. It never failed. I will order more.
