You need to download the software of your choice and then use this device to record. I recommend using OBS Studio as it is an easy install. Also, I highly recommend using another computer to record videos while streaming or playing games on your main computer. I've found that if you run both functions on the same computer, you tend to skip some frames in your recording. The device itself is all-metal and fairly durable, and it's also a bit lighter. Using USB 3.0 offers more bandwidth for smooth 1080p streaming at 60 fps. In the picture it appears as an extended screen from my computer.
