It's pretty well made apart from the safety lock which is very important. I am a professional carpenter and it took a long time to install. For some width rooms this might work fine, but on my staircase the width didn't work properly. With the extension in width it was too wide (see picture). It was too tight without him. The screws were not pulled out long enough to be tightened. The goal comes out of the square and that's okay. The idea is that tightening the screw will add tension to a square and hold it in place. But the effort required to make it square is ridiculous. especially if you pulled the screws all the way out to get the required width. I used so much tension that the wall panels on the gate kept coming apart. I had to use a webbing strap to make it square first so I could position it. Then I had to make a wall block because the studs weren't long enough. I had to send it back and was still able to do it. The latch for the gate doesn't work well either. I only use it for one pet but I would never rely on a baby latch. My wall space measured 34 1/4" at the bottom and 35 1/4" at the top.
