Ridiculously wrong -- but saves the favors

Maybe my "Hell Wheel" is interfering with incoming components and helping in the shop. By that I don't mean that this review points to American Bleed Solutions as it can be read negatively. My copy of this bleed kit appears to have fallen victim to an unfortunate industrial fate. First, the Shimano bleeder cup wasn't bolted on properly. It didn't fit properly with one of my new XT brakes (out of the box). I ended up having to rotate the cup a bit to get it to work. Secondly, the supplied syringe did not work at first. The plunger did not press down on the bottom of the syringe. As a result, the few milliliters of air bubbles that initially tried to load it could no longer be moved. I had to remove the piston to clear the oil. I fixed the syringe by immersing it in very hot water for about a minute. The action of the plunger while the plastic was hot counterbalanced the action of the plunger inside the syringe. Hooray. As for the rest of the bleed kit, the small mineral oil bottle has a drip tip. This is handy for filling the overflow tank at the end of the process. But you must remove the tip in hopes of replacing unused brake oil after the bleeding process is complete. And why isn't there a clamp to hold the severed syringe hose to the Shimano bleed nipple during the gravity portion of the bleed process? Shimano's own kit includes one. The nipple is where most leaks occur during use. The included syringe tubing is not tight enough (and gets too slippery with oil) and will hold securely in place if left temporarily unattended. The included pair of powder-free latex gloves were too small for my large hands. And in the same spirit of missed opportunity, American Bleed Solutions' tiny funnel for collecting unused oil back into the bottle would be welcome. on the syringe tube) fits perfectly on the Schrader side of my bike pump. This means I can conveniently air dry the hose (and all other accessories) after washing. Here is happiness.
