Review on ๐Ÿ”ฝ Lutron Caseta PD-FSQN-IV Ivory Ceiling Fan Speed Control Switch: Smart Home Compatible with Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant by Nick Kussmaul

Smart fan controller from the best residential smart switches company

Very glad Lutron finally brought these out. I have about 15 Caseta light switches and ordered two fan switches as soon as they became available. Setup was easy. It adds four fan speeds: low/medium/medium-high/high. Also works well with my Alexa. The only comment is that the central "Favorites Preset" button seems a bit useless. This is great for light switches as you can set it to anything between 1 and 100%, but for a fan switch with only 4 speed options it seems a bit unnecessary. Update after a week of use: still very happy with it. I can say "Alexa has turned the ceiling fan on full blast" and it works fine. The 4 fan speeds are a little different from the 3 speeds I had before with a traditional fan speed switch. I would say if the old 3 speed derailleur was 0%/33%/67%/100% then this one is 0/25/50/75/100. "Low" is very slow, but still enough to move the air a bit. I mostly use "medium" and "high" settings. I also have a deleted bedside pico scene where the setting 'Good Night' automatically turns off the lights and turns on the fan. As another reviewer said, remember you should have separate wires for the fan and lights. This won't work if you only have one live wire going to your fan and light combo. I have Caseta switches on both and they work perfectly. Another reviewer noted that the switch used a live screw terminal instead of the stranded wire coming out of the switch, which was typical of the Caseta, but that didn't bother me at all.

Pros
  • SPECIFICATIONS: a ceiling fan up to 1.5A; Single pole only - add a pico fan (PJ2-3BRL-GXX-F01, sold separately) for 3-way control
Cons
  • Some trouble
