We had the same problem. Bought two. I changed the batteries, the controller didn't work on any of them. FINALLY my husband found out that the little red tab on the bike (which we thought was a bike pedal) was actually one of those plastic tabs that you have to pull out and remove in order for the batteries/connector to work. After we pulled that out, the controller worked great. You might think the instructions would cause this.
