My mom complained about the mess every time she reached into a jar of peanut butter with a ring of standard length measuring spoons. I ordered it for her and she hasn't complained since. Yes, you can use a knife to scoop food out of a tall glass and then scoop it out with a measuring spoon, but I don't think there's any point in messing up more dishes than necessary. The spoons came in a handy carrying case and smelled fresh of hand-carved wood when opened. Since they're wooden, you'll have to hand wash them and dry them immediately, but it doesn't matter much for a spoonful at a time. Would recommend them if you're looking for tall paddles.
