Review on Villa Acacia Small Wood Cutting Board - Premium 12 Inch Wooden Board for Fruits and Vegetables by Kimberly Sanders

Of course you can cut yourself, but. . .

. . . You can also cut a plastic cutting board for $2. However, when spending $60 on a nice solid wood cutting board, I expect to get a quality product, not something that was clearly pushed out of a factory in China with no apparent quality control. what i got Not only were there rough and uneven, unsanded (or partially sanded) sap grooves (which I could sand down myself, of course, but for $60 I shouldn't have to), and some dents on the edges of the board, there were even a few corners and edges on the cut surface! That shouldn't happen to a cutting board even at half or a quarter the price. The wood was average/cheap quality but otherwise good and could probably get a decent look with a few oil treatments (this board comes without oil; you'll have to buy it yourself) but again that requires more work, that's not what I spent $60. For $20-$30 I could buy a bamboo cutting board and have better quality. But I don't want bamboo. I want a nice real wood cutting board for my kitchen. But it shouldn't be. So now I'm going to do a little trouble sanding the damn board to salvage what I can from this ill-fated purchase and we'll see how long it lasts (I'm not holding my breath) without getting too warp or crack, but otherwise If so, I plan to use this board for grilling in my backyard. Eager to get something nicer for my kitchen, I ordered a darker and better looking acacia board for $60 from another company. If that doesn't suit me, I can just collapse, spend $100 and buy some maple or teak.
