Review on πŸ”¦ Tendelux 80ft IR Illuminator: Enhancing Security Camera Performance with AI4 No Hot Spot Wide Angle Infrared Light (w/Power Adapter) by Paul Rose

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Apparently there are some nodes that have the wrong components that are causing the error.

I bought two of these AI4 floodlights and one of them worked the first night but didn't work the second night. I contacted the seller who refunded the money and also informed me that some devices were made with wrong components which caused these devices to fail. Although they said the issue was resolved with production, some of the bad units remain in the supply chain (apparently because there was no way to tell these units from good ones). So if you happen to get a "loafer" there will be some inconvenience as it needs to be replaced. In terms of performance, these "no-hotspot" (filtered) devices aren't as bright as similar devices that aren't filtered. This is a trade-off that spreads the light more evenly at the expense of reducing the maximum brightness (and range) of the lights. So if you need to maximize the lighting range, it is better to buy 4 LED unfiltered lighting. but if you need to illuminate the area to be lit in the first place, then these "no-hot-spot" illuminators are probably better. However, if you also need brighter illumination and/or a wider illumination area, you can purchase six or eight LED versions of these "hot spot free" fixtures, which offer higher IR output. I gave these AI4 devices. a four-star performance rating mainly because they have a lower maximum intensity and shorter effective range than comparable unfiltered 4-LED emitters, but if your situation suffers from uneven lighting then these emitters can solve this problem. I also lowered the score because these units tend to be slightly more expensive than their unfiltered counterparts. I also only gave these units four stars for ease of installation because (like most other similar jigs) it requires removing the jig from its mount to install a single center mounting screw. The lighting then needs to be reattached to the bracket with two small screws. This is a bit of a risk when working from a ladder, both because of the high likelihood of dropping (and losing) one or both of the screws holding the bracket to the bracket, and the risk of losing your balance losing it because both hands are required to mount the device back on the bracket. (I usually avoid this problem by pre-mounting the assembly on a repair plate or angle bracket (commonly available at hardware stores and hardware stores), which can then be secured to the mounting surface with a magnetic-tipped screwdriver and an appropriate screw or two). In general I like these units for their intended use but my areas also usually need remote lighting so I would like these units to be a bit more powerful.
