This is the second time I have replaced a carafe in about 10 years. They are strong and don't break easily. It drips very little: it pours well and doesn't leave coffee where it's not needed. Both times, the failure was due to a hit or a fall. However, the lid breaks a small hinge every time it rests on the carafe. It still works, but I wish it wouldn't break. The lid would be safer.
