Review on 🔌 ViewHD 1x2 HDMI Splitter with Built-In Audio Extractor and Optical / RCA L/R Stereo Outputs - VHD-1X2HSACi by Bobby Plymell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great - does everything it says on the tin and more

Revain's list includes 7 completely different products from the same manufacturer, priced from $16 to $188. And because of Revain's stupid rating system for such lists, reviews for all 7 completely different products are mixed up. This review is only for "HDMI Splitter 1x2 with Built-in Audio Extractor" ($33.50 at time of purchase). Great, well thought out product, does exactly what I need and does it well. It really does three different things: 1. Broadcast 1 HDMI input to two HDMI outputs (e.g. if you want to display the signal on 2 different screens). I don't use it for this.2. All you have to do is set the switch to the desired audio format (2-channel analog stereo or optical 5.1). or record your gaming session, or something else. I don't use it for that either.3. Split audio from HDMI input to audio outputs. RCA stereo and optical TOSLINK for 5.1-channel audio (sound also stays on HDMI signals). This is my main usage. For example, if you buy a Roku Ultra box with HDMI outputs, but want to route the sound through an audio sound system, you need to buy such a box because Roku, in its endless ignorance, doesn't have an audio output on its box (even the top- Roku Ultra has ), only HDMI embedded audio. But the box worked perfectly and did exactly what I needed, plug and play. All you have to do is set the switch to the desired audio format (2-channel analog stereo or optical 5.1). or record your gaming session, or whatever. I don't use it for that either.3. For example, if you buy a Roku Ultra box with HDMI outputs but want to stream audio through an audio sound system, you need to buy a box like Roku. In their endless lack of wisdom, there's no audio output on its box (not even the top-end Roku Ultra), only integrated HDMI audio.
