Review on Waterproof Slip-On Hiking Boot For Men: KEEN Brixen by James Cabot

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Functionally sound, but with a surprising aspect.

Not a big reviewer, but thought I should tell people about these shoes as there is one surprising aspect. First the background - my feet get cold, so I need insulated shoes and I am not a big fan of getting my feet wet, so waterproof is also a requirement. Until now, I had been wearing Salomon Men's Eskape Mid GTX Hiking Boot (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008JFC1LE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage), but they were starting to tear after two years of daily use. And I wanted something that goes on/off faster. So I got the Keens. On the positive side, they keep my feet warm as advertized. Hasn't rained yet, but they seem waterproof, so that is fine too. The sizing is a bit big, so my heels slide out a little, esp. if I walk fast, but that is somewhat expected in a slip on. So far, so good. The big surprise - at least to me - these shoes are UGLY! I'm a software guy (as you may have already surmised), so what do I care. I asked people at work (people 30 years younger than I) thinking that perhaps these weren't ugly, but just in fashion (another subject about which I know nothing). But no, the unanimous opinion is that these shoes are UGLY.I am going to wear them every day until they fall apart (or fail to protect me in the coming rainy season) - but I didn't want anyone to say that they weren't warned.

Pros
  • Perfect fit and extremely comfortable
Cons
  • The shoe can smell bad after prolonged use
