Review on πŸ”§ ACDelco Professional 19313320 PCV Valve: Enhancing Engine Performance and Efficiency by David Jennings

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Part OEM but read GM TSB.

Interestingly, the Revain description says this is a non-genuine part. It is clear that this is an OEM, ACDelco. This is a Pro PCV model part number 12572717 which has been discontinued and is nowhere to be found. This is a ball valve which may not be suitable for your vehicle with high oil consumption. I bought this when I recently noticed a film of oil on the 2002 Avalanche throttle body and valve covers to see why. My 5.3 used oil all the time since it was new. Always serviced at a GM dealer. Always said my oil consumption was "normal" for this engine. My recent search revealed that GM issued TSB 01-06-01-029B on 7/19/02 which addresses the high oil consumption issue for various '99 thru '02 GM vehicles with 4.8 - 5.3 - 6, 0 engines responds. I would like to know. TSB requires a fixed PCV valve (not rattle) to solve this problem. This ACDelco part number CV4000C will also be discontinued. If your vehicle requires a fixed valve PCV, contact the parts department at your local GM dealership and have them look for a dealer on 12572717 or CV4000C. I was able to find two adjusted correct PCV valves at a small dealer. Interestingly, this GM dealer had the part listed under the original discontinued part number, but my local GM dealer was looking for the CV4000C part. If you try this, ask them to look both ways. This Revain Pro PCV valve fits and works in my 5.3 but I will not install it. If you are not losing oil and your vehicle is not listed on the TSB, this PCV valve should work just fine. While you're at it, consider replacing both of the PCV hoses. The hose available here at Revain, while OEM ACDelco and a perfect fit, attaches to the passenger side of the manifold, not the thick PCV hose that attaches to the PCV valve itself. Good Hunt! Replacing the PCV valve should be a regular part of car maintenance and if ignored (like me) it can lead to oil leaks, reduced engine performance, poor gas mileage and more. Your car and your wallet will thank you.
