Review on πŸ‘ Enhanced Control and Comfort: ESI Grips Extra Chunky MTB Grip by Charles Fowler

Best grips I've tried

I've been using different MTB grips for over 10 years. I was sure they were the best grip for me. Then, on a whim, I tried ESI grips. At first my hands were a bit numb and I wasn't sure I liked them. After 8-10 rides I got used to them and I really liked them. I ride a hardtail and these cranks reduce vibration significantly. The cushioning they provide is noticeable. I had red knobs and a red color scheme for my bike components. A weld broke on my frame and the manufacturer gave a guarantee but sent a frame of a completely different color. The red ESI grips I had looked really silly, so I took them off (more on that at the end of this review) and replaced them with my old grips. From memory I was pretty sure my old grips were slightly superior to the ESI grips so I switched back to my old grips with confidence. Just ONE ride with my old cranks made me miss ESI cranks. The ESI grips were actually far superior to my old grips. I immediately ordered a new pair and installed them as soon as they arrived. I had to order a new pair as I had to cut off the old pair. I tried for a long time to remove the first pair of ESI knobs and they wouldn't budge. I've tried the air compressor method, I've tried rolling, I've tried everything I can think of and they won't come loose. I had to cut them off. Luckily, they're not expensive, so the new set wasn't a big deal. Installing this second pair was just as easy as the first. All you have to do is plug one end with your finger and pour some rubbing alcohol in and they slide right in with minimal effort. For the end caps, just make scissors and cut 3 small triangular sections evenly spaced around the first rib and the end caps will slide too. . As far as I can tell they have to be cut off to be removed. But they work as advertised and are a huge improvement over any previous grips I've tried.
