I have an unusually thick beard that is difficult to trim. I have never come across an electric shaver that is not very painful to shave as it does not seem sharp or powerful enough to trim my facial hair. So I would always use a safety razor and lather my skin with some kind of shaving soap or shaving cream in a jar using a shaving mug and brush. I've been shaving for 40 years and have used too many brands of shaving cream or soap to remember. I've spent the last 40 years searching for the perfect balance between beard straightening, a close shave, skin protection and fragrance. I am happy to report that I have found the best of everything in Taylor of Old Bond Street shaving creams. There are many scents but two of my favorites are cedarwood and sandalwood, they smell very masculine and last all day. They have a full line of skin care products that are truly excellent. I suggest buying one of these and finding your favorite scent, no matter which one gives you the best, smoothest, most comfortable shave.
