Of the 4 microfiber towels I've tried, my favorite is the Aurorae towels, followed by Fina Waffle Weave, then Ecodept and finally Packtowl. For at home or in the car I would choose the Aurorae Beach Towel or the Fina Waffle Weave Towel. For mountaineering or other trips where size and weight are undesirable I would go to the Ecodept. Aurorae is the largest of the four, with a low terry hold and dries well and comfortably for a microfiber towel (but still doesn't feel like cotton terry). Fina Waffle Weave wicks moisture well and feels pretty good, only after Aurorae. Ecodept is fairly slick but heavier, feels more comfortable and feels more absorbent than Packtowl and larger. My wife doesn't like change very much and didn't appreciate the feel of smooth towels compared to drying with a rubber sheet; he thought he liked Aurorae best, although he didn't complain about Fina Waffle Weave. They're all good towels, but we have our own preferences for the feel. I don't know if the Aurorae or Fina are suitable for sandy conditions and I'm wondering if they pick up sand or lint and leave it in the towel. There's a lot to consider, but at this price point, we probably won't try it on purpose.
