Bought these shoes for my almost 3 year old grandson to wear outside in our court. You are perfect! Lightweight, breathable, fairly easy on and off for a squirming baby, Velcro attaches securely and stays in place. The soles are strong enough to protect his feet but not bulky on him at all. So far they've seen dirt, dirt, asphalt, grass and horse poo. He rides a balance bike in it and walks/runs uphill and downhill without slipping. They peed on her too! (Potty training.) He took out the removable pads, washed the entire shebanga in the sink and quickly dried it. You haven't been in a forest or creek yet, but you will, and I have no doubt these shoes will do the job.
